You've got good genes which helps, or doesn't. I'll take credit for the good ones! Dad

Good on ya. We're about to have my youngest off to school, which will make it easier for my wife and I to make meaningful adjustments to our diets. For years I've subscribed to the science of simply ingest less. Years of cycling has trained my ability to just simply suffer... But, as you've pointed out, even presumably healthy people can have underlying issues if the mix they're ingesting isn't correct. Like I said, getting the teenage boy off to school will help clean up the junk in our pantry!

Here's the link to an interesting article about weight loss:

What I appreciated most from your article was your daily diet. I love fruits, nuts, fish, vegetables and grains. Yet, I have a mental block when it comes to what to actually put on my plate. Seems simple to most, just not for me. Great article.

Great post, Jason. I have had high cholesterol for years. After learning from my wife, who is on a plant based diet, reading many books, and watching documentaries like “The Game Changers”, I switched to a plant-based, vegan diet almost five years ago. I never looked back. I have been able to cut my cholesterol meds from two meds to only a statin and halved the dosage of the latter. I also dropped 32 pounds (have back 10 in COVID, but working on turning around the sedentary lockdown routine). Thank you for the inspiration. Best to you and Gishani.

You hit the nail dead on the head "I only know what has worked for me" You have to find what works for you, that is the advice I always give when asked about staying fit. Another great installment Jason!

Thanks for sharing your story. It is motivating. As usual (with diving, watches, natos, etc...) I will follow your lead!

Good to hear the plan is going so well! Being someone with a sweet tooth, I’m entirely jealous of your ability to swear off of desserts so readily, but I think it’s something all of us could stand to do, at least in moderation. Here’s to a healthy rest of 2022!

My wife, who has always been skinny but never 'ripped', has lost more weight over the past 2 years since she's taken up biking and is now all lean muscle and abs. She's extremely fit, crushes half marathons, and is never afraid to pound a bottle of champagne, a burger and a box of Mild Duds. And she can do this because she works out like a beast day in and day out. Yet everyone comments on her being too skinny, needing to fatten up, asking her to stop starving herself. She's begun to find it offensive, and I agree. Nobody will comment on me downing two cheeseburgers and a hot dog at a BBQ, but they'll comment on her eating a bunless burger and a salad. Why is that? Anyway, Mr H it's good to see you in tip top shape. Keep up the good work and it's so important that you've found what works for you!

It’s been great to see you get fit and stay for over the past year, Jason. Even without the specific health scare as a motivator, it’s a good time for me to recommit to my own fitness, diet, and booze habits. Thanks for posting and thanks again for the recent exchange!
