Excellent review, thanks sir. I bought this right when I got the email, some hours before the Doxa bow-shot, but I definitely would have sided with Team Rick regardless!
Great write up! I jumped on the chance to own a real Tropic strap, so I am definitely a fan of the company.
Sadly, I’m afraid the Synchron is out of my price range and way outside the price range of any but the most senior members in military service. MILSPEC watches like G-shock, CWC, Sangin, and Marathon are my cup of tea. I just wish I was taking tea leaning against the wing of a Defender.
G-shock is just a good, reliable piece of kit. Nothing more. The 5900 is also cheap so you can afford to follow TDY rule number 15: two is one and one is none!
Been looking at this watch for 2 days and after your review will be making a purchase . Based on the blog posts and various comments on several sites, I have a feeling the early bird special may have already achieved the allocation as outlined in your piece. With that said. I am a buyer!
Awesome write up, Jason. I don't understand why Doxa had to respond. It seems like it'll only hurt them given the nature of the Doxa dive watch community, which is pretty small and pretty savvy, from what I can see. I imagine most will see straight through the 'trust the original' silliness. I liked how you handled your love of milspec stuff, as well.
My first thought when I saw this watch was, "wow, that's pretty funky for a military diver". My second thought was, "hey, I think I need a funky military diver watch in the collection". You were right Jason. The stainless steel version is sold out. Just got my order in for the Black version. Thanks for the heads up about this watch and the story behind it.
I hate to be the one to ask the question that all the WIS types ask... but how’s the lume? This is a tempting pickup, but if it’s going to be a military diver for me it needs to at least have solid lume. Apparently I’m in the “most senior members” category of military service, but I think the 1000 dollar price category is pretty reasonable for sure. Thanks!
Lovely review of an amazing watch.
I am a big fan of Ricks work, and I probably have to pick this up.
I appreciate that you addressed Doxas Instagram post, which really made me think even less of the management.

Thanks for your service, JR! And you have good taste yourself, though I have yet to warm up to G-Shock. :)

AKA the helicopter rule. If you need a helicopter, request two
Oh, that’s rich.

Saw this on WIS and all the pictures you posted I had to order one!
Is this Swiss or German made? On the website it does mention either, unless I missed it. I know the movement is Swiss. Thanks and good write up.
If Synchron history is any indication, cases are German, assembly is in Switzerland. But I am not certain.

Ordered one in black and can't wait! Solid review and excellent photos :)
Always loved what Rick did with Doxa, as well as with Tropic and ISO, so, naturally I ordered the Synchron Military (black)! Great article, Jason!
