Congrats on the 4000 copies. It’s about the same run as Casino Royale’s first printing!

My family has a cabin trip planned for next weekend, I think that's going to be the perfect time to re-read Depth Charge.

Good luck with the next book- if you need someone to volunteer to be a henchman again, sign me up!

Your openness on your goals, fears and commitment are enlightening. I've been writing a series of vignettes as a way to share family history. It's clearly different from fiction, yet memories always involve a bit of hyperbole.

I'm looking forward to your next thriller. Loved the first.

Jason,

Good luck in the next go. I found the process far easier the second time simply because my characters had already decided who they were and how they were going to tell their story. It sounds a bit mad, but then again writing fiction is a bit mad.

For certain, Fleming is a perfect model to follow. The Bond novels have stood the test of time!

I have just finished a new book in my second series set prior to WWI and that was work because I decided to place real characters in real places. Far different from putting my MIKE4 characters (all fiction) in real places.

Keep writing! We need to know more about Tusker.

Somebody said that everybody has one book in them, but the second is the one that proves they're a writer. Sounds like you've broken this curse and you're well on the way to developing your main character. Congratulations!

I agree with you regards the 007 audio books. I've been listening to them recently and they're excellent.

p.s. I've just picked up Depth Charge to read again. Not something I often do this with fiction.

I just finished Depth Charge this afternoon, and loved it. It was a true page-turner! You may have mentioned this in previous missives, or on TGN, but what are your favorite Bond novels?

Great stuff. Looking forward to the sequel. Question... was Rausing loosely based on Victor Vescovo? Not the bad-guy aspect, but looks wise?

Perhaps try not to think of it as "stretching your comfort zone" (or as people often say, getting out of your comfort zone) but the subtley different "expanding your area of competence" which I read in a great book called Mastering Fear, and have found helpful.

I really enjoyed Depth Charge and eagerly await the sequel

Can‘t wait! Luckily we have your substance to tide us over ;) 4000 books is amazing - does that include e-books sold?

And finally: will your publishing route (via Amazon) be sold out at some point? I already have a copy for my Stepdad as Christmas present, but need to think whether others might like it as well…
