Much like we watch fans lend each other favorite timepieces, we should have a community clothing closet for just such needs. What’s your size, Jason? 😉
Have you considered replacing the Blundies with RM Williams? Sure, they cost more. But I find the look to be more refined that I can comfortably wear them in the Australian bush to a meeting room.
I do like RM but for my lifestyle they’re too dressy and not versatile enough to warrant the price. None that I’ve seen have a good lug sole for gardening, hiking, etc and then able to polish up for dress duty. So a pair would likely sit in my closet for most of the time. That said, I’d love a pair.
Have you tried the Blundstone 062 or 1306? It's a chisel toe shape and looks a little more dressy but with the same sole and construction as the regular boot. It's been my daily wear for the office for the last 3-4 years and still looks like new!
Funny you should mention... after considering some RM Williams boots, the #155 Blunnies are similar enough (but with a rubber Goodyear welt sole) that I had to order a pair!
I have a hankering for a made to measure linen suit, the crumpled looking English bloke with a history that has mis-laid his Panama hat is the look I'm going for. ;-)
As an aside I haven't heard you or James mention the new 41mm Sinn U50 hydro oil filled quartz watch, I thought this would be right in the TGN wheel house? Would love to hear your thoughts, Shane its not high accuracy thermo compensated anymore otherwise I would have been in.
I would recommend looking into Spier & Mackay if you want to up your wardrobe. They are a Canadian company and their clothes are well-priced and well-made (though basically everything is made overseas). Nearly all of their sport coats are unlined so they should keep you much cooler than a fully lined one.
Another relatable article for me. Having failed in securing a PDW CWO full zip sweater I was able to finally secure a triple aught design overlord which gives me far more use and enjoyment than anything from Tom Ford that might be seen at Tosca. (It’s not for everyone). Having to dress up always brings panic for all the reasons (weight fluctuations, style, recency) but dressing down is always as comforting as cereal and Saturday morning cartoons. 🚁🇺🇸
I rarely need a suit and tie now as a mere, wretched federal pensioner, but when I do I think of it as my “armor” against the madness of the “real/unreal” world of serious people doing serious things.
Over the years when I did have to look serious, I found Lands End and LL Bean covered nearly all of my needs except ties. Here’s a secret: a well made conservative silk tie, a decent watch, a formal leather belt and highly polished shoes are the only things most folks see when they meet you. Spend money on those items rather than a $1000+ suit and tailored shirts. Of course there will be fashion mavens who will sniff at your other clothes, but they are creeps anyhow.
That’s two cents coming from a guy who in the past did serious things.
I'm afraid I have no wisdom to offer as I'm strictly jeans and t-shirts and don't get invited to fancy schmancy stuff (thank goodness). But I hope the fine folks at Rolex Genève will appreciate you and your 14060 - I always assume they have a soft spot for that one, as they left its drilled lugs alone for years after they phased out all the others. Bon voyage monsieur!

Hey, the About Effing Time guys got away with wearing coveralls to W&W. 😂 I’m sure you’d do just fine in your typical outfit.
Pictures Prove it Happened, as they say - and I assure you, there are MANY here who would love to see a pic of JH in a tweed waistcoat and loafers (!)
Funny thing is, I had to double check, because I went to high school with a Jeff Kane, and was worried you’d have those photos!
ha - that would be weird (!)

This would be a fantastic crossover episode with Blamo! and Die, Workwear

No worries on the duds, Jason. I know you clean up well. (I seem to remember a certain black tie event we both attended in NYC some years back...)
Not knowing if you knew there was such a thing as Tusker Lager I almost sent a picture of the bottle in my hand in Tanzania last month.
