I had a dream last night, one ripe for psychoanalysis. In it, I had signed up for a grueling endurance event and a number of friends and watch industry peers were also planning to participate. We all happened to be staying at the same place (hotel?) in a big unfamiliar city and we all were heading out for a training run at the same time one day. The others were all very relaxed, smiling, joking, at ease. Just as everyone set off for this run, I suddenly realized I’d forgotten my cap, so I ran back to my room to fetch it, but I couldn’t find it. I turned the place upside down looking, with a growing sense of dread that my compatriots were far ahead of me, getting stronger, forging bonds with each other, while I was stuck in my room looking for this missing cap. I woke up, the dream extinguished, without having found the cap.
