By now you probably know of my affinity for Great Britain. My first time abroad, at the tender age of 18, was to England, when a friend and I visited the Tower of London, took a boozy bus tour to Jack the Ripper’s murder sites, and bought a thick woolen sweater as a souvenir, only to find that wearing it poached me in my own sweat. Recent trips to Wales (2019) and Scotland (2023) were two of my most memorable, and swings through London always make my Anglophilia swell to full “God Save the King” crescendo. So when Bremont watch company invited me over on short notice to visit their impressive headquarters and preview some new watches, I leaped at the chance. By sheer coincidence, the first annual British Watchmakers’ Day event was scheduled for the same week. Now I’m not going to regale you with a blow-by-blow account of my trip. You can listen to a certain podcast for that. Instead, here are some snapshots from my trip.
